Our Story

Woman kneeling on black plastic mulch sheet, planting young seedlings in a field with trees and hills in the background.

I am Angie Ross — farmer/florist , former Neonatal Intensive care unit nurse and the proud owner of Oak Park Flower Farm.

My long and meaningful nursing career has provided me the confidence to apply many of those valuable skills—patience, close observation, leadership and hard work—to the science of agriculture.

It’s been an honor to support and empower families to care for their premature or ill babies.

It is equally a privilege to grow beautiful flowers for you.

I deeply felt the need to create something meaningful and lasting outside of the NICU.

As my 3 children have grown so has my determination to create a new path.

I knew the world needed more organic flower farms as much as it needed more organic vegetable farms.

My mission was clear; grow beautiful high quality flowers for the world to love.

The structure, support and training at Great Lakes Incubator Farm (GLIF)has been critical to our success.

I learned the important techniques of small-scale organic vegetable farming, and adapted the research and structure to flower production. The journey has been worth every bit of time and patience, to grow the skills and confidence required to build a farm business.

My husband Mike or as many of you know him as,Mr. Oak Park Flowers has been Oak Park flowers steadfast support from the beginning; he shares the vision of a more beautiful, diverse tomorrow; his attention to detail is the perfect complement to our farm.

The name of our farm comes from the Oak Park neighborhood in Traverse City, where we live, love and raise our family since 2002.

What began as a humble flower garden on Washington Street has blossomed into a proper small-scale flower farm, growing and learning across three locations to provide stunning, local blooms to our community.
